Rootwell is operated by Biokainos Corp. ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of users ("you" or "your") of the Rootwell mobile application and related services ("App"), which provide nutrition insights to support long-term health and longevity.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information, including personal information, nutrition data, and health-related information you provide when using the App. It also describes how information is processed by third-party service providers that power features such as AI-assisted food and meal analysis, and explains your privacy rights under applicable data protection laws.

We prioritize your privacy and do not sell your personal or health data to third parties. Where consent is required to process your information, we will request it separately.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

• Account Information: When you create a Rootwell account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication information. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the information shared by that provider, which may include your name and email address. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

• Profile Information: We collect information you provide during onboarding or when updating your profile, such as your age, sex, weight, height, activity level, dietary preferences, and health or nutrition goals, to personalise your experience.

• Contact Information: When you contact us for support or provide feedback, we collect your email address, your name if provided, and the contents of your message, including any attachments you choose to share.

2.2 Nutrition and Health-Related Data

We process the nutrition and health-related information you provide to deliver personalized nutrition insights and support your long-term health goals. Where required by applicable law, we obtain your explicit consent.

• Food and Meal Information: Food photos, scanned barcodes, meal descriptions, restaurant menus, meal logs, and food diary entries you submit through Rootwell.

• Health and Lifestyle Information: Weight, height, activity level, dietary preferences, and health or nutrition goals you provide.

• Nutrition Analysis and Results: Estimates and insights generated from your submissions, such as nutrient intake, fiber intake, plant diversity, and food scores.

• Progress and History: Saved meal analyses, nutrition tracking history, and progress toward your dietary goals.

When you use AI-powered analysis features, relevant submitted information is sent to third-party service providers for processing.

2.3 Usage Data

• Device and Technical Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and technical information associated with requests to our services, which may include your IP address.

• App Usage: Information about how you interact with Rootwell, such as features used, screens visited, and interactions with food scanning, meal logging, and nutrition insights.

• Diagnostics: Crash reports, error logs, and performance data used to troubleshoot issues and improve the App’s reliability.

• Analytics Data: Usage statistics that help us understand how Rootwell is used and improve its features. Where possible, we use aggregated or de-identified information.

2.4 Cookies and Similar Technologies

Rootwell may use local storage and similar technologies to save your preferences, maintain sign-in sessions, and support essential App functionality. If you visit our website, cookies may also be used for these purposes.

Where required by applicable law, we will request your consent before using non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies. You can manage website cookies through your browser settings and any cookie controls we provide. Browser settings do not control storage within the Rootwell App.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide Services: To operate Rootwell, manage your account, and enable food photo analysis, barcode scanning, restaurant menu analysis, and meal logging. Relevant information is shared with service providers to process these requests.

• Personalisation: To tailor nutrition insights and food suggestions to your dietary preferences, activity level, and health or nutrition goals.

• Nutrition Analysis: To estimate nutritional content, generate food scores, and help you track fiber intake, plant diversity, and progress toward your goals.

• App Improvement: To understand feature usage, troubleshoot errors, improve accuracy, and enhance the App’s performance.

• Communication and Support: To respond to your questions and send important account or service updates. With your consent where required, we may also send optional nutrition insights, newsletters, or promotional content. You can unsubscribe from these optional communications at any time.

• Research and Development: To improve our analysis methods and develop features using aggregated or anonymized information where possible.

• Security and Legal Compliance: To protect accounts, prevent fraud or misuse, and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal obligations.

4. Data We Will Never Sell

Biokainos Corp. will never sell your personal information or health-related data to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

Rootwell’s business model is based on providing subscription services. We do not monetize your personal information through data sales.

5. Disclosure of Your Information

• Service Providers: We may share information with third-party providers that help operate Rootwell, such as hosting, authentication, analytics, and customer support providers, as needed to perform their services.

• AI-Powered Analysis: When you submit food photos, meal descriptions, or restaurant menus for analysis, relevant content is sent to AI service providers, including OpenAI through its API, to generate nutrition estimates and insights. This processing occurs outside your device.

• At Your Request: We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or provide consent for a specific disclosure.

• Legal Requirements and Protection: We may disclose information when required by applicable law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, security, or safety of our users, Biokainos Corp., or others.

• Business Transfers: If Biokainos Corp. undergoes a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and privacy obligations. We will provide any required notice and obtain consent where required.

6. Data Storage and Security

Biokainos Corp. takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through Rootwell against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.

Rootwell stores information locally on your device and sends relevant information to third-party providers when needed for features such as AI-powered nutrition analysis. The security of locally stored information also depends on your device’s security settings.

We aim to limit the information we process to what is necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and retain it only as long as needed for those purposes or to meet legal obligations.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we take steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR)

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to our processing of your personal data, you have the following rights, subject to applicable conditions and exceptions:

• Access: Request access to your personal data and obtain a copy.

• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

8. Data Retention

Biokainos Corp. retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Rootwell’s services, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Retention periods depend on the type of information, why it is processed, and any legal requirements. Information stored locally on your device remains subject to your device’s storage and backup settings.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it, subject to applicable legal requirements.

9. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your Rootwell account and associated personal information by emailing info@rootwellapp.com with the subject “Account Deletion Request.”

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity. We will process your request within the timeframe required by applicable law and notify you of any permitted extension.

Following a verified request, we will delete the personal information under our control that is covered by your request and instruct relevant service providers to do so where required. Certain records may be retained where legally permitted or required, including for compliance, security, or resolving disputes.

Information stored exclusively on your device or in backups you control may require separate deletion by you. We will explain any additional steps relevant to your request.

10.2 CCPA / CPRA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident and the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to our business, you may have the right to:

• Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions.

• Request correction of inaccurate personal information.

We do not sell your personal information.

You or an authorized agent may submit a request to info@rootwellapp.com. We may verify your identity and an agent’s authority where permitted by law. We generally respond to requests to know, correct, or delete within 45 calendar days, with any legally permitted extension communicated to you.

10.3 All Users

Regardless of your location, you may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may also:

• Manage App permissions through your device settings.

• Disable push notifications through your device settings.

• Unsubscribe from optional marketing emails using the unsubscribe link.

• Request account deletion as described in Section 9.

Additional privacy rights may apply depending on where you live.

11. Children’s Privacy

Rootwell is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to Rootwell, please contact info@rootwellapp.com. If we become aware of such collection, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.

Where applicable law requires a higher age for valid consent, we will comply with those requirements.

12. Push Notifications

With your permission, Rootwell may send push notifications, such as meal reminders, nutrition tips, and progress updates.

You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device’s notification settings.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Rootwell, our data practices, or applicable legal requirements.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App or another appropriate channel as required by law. Where required, we will obtain your consent before applying changes.

The current Privacy Policy will remain accessible through the App.
